Excellent service from Tompa Marine

Just need to boost this back to the top!

Charlie Brown was lifted last week for its pre summer clean and a few little jobs. One of the things picked up on pre purchase survey was it was missing one ECU update. Not critical but took the opportunity to get it done this week whilst ashore.

Tom picked up the reprogrammed ECU last night and fitted it under van headlamp before launching today, sea trialing and putting it back on its berth.

Top service and nothing was too much trouble.

Has anyone had any recent contact with Tom from Tompa marine? I am struggling to contact him (phone / email) after he has started a job for me. Unable to use boat as head was removed - 2 weeks now. Last contact on 4th August.

You are not alone . Sadly i recommended Tom to a friend based on the post from forum members pleased with him .my friend needed an engine rebuild which was given to Tom in April still not done. The man needs to communicate with customers. My friend has tried contacting him and has been to work shop with no joy.
I hope you get contact with him .

You live and learn in life don't recommend any one you don't know.

Thanks for the info. I was recommended Tompa Marine by Bukh service department in Poole. Waiting on info and had the boat in Universal Marina for 6 nights to get the work done - now towed the boat back to her mooring waiting on info.

I will give Tom a call and refer this post to him, no one likes this kind post on the Internet for all to see, it can literally ruin someone's hard work and reputation overnight, this industry takes years to learn and after 30 years I know you cannot please everyone. Tom is a friend of mine and no rival, we have known each other for a few years now and often chew that fat as they say about the whole industry. As both Tom and myself are always in demand there are times when people have to be patient,
We're are both 1 man bands who have both worked for dealers, we have both built our businesses mainly from clients from the big boy dealers that to be very frankly give shocking service as a vastly overrated prices, that's why we're here and not many give the free info away like we do. I've just had 2 days off either side the weekend on a mates T50, I've done 3 jobs today driving virtually from one end of the Solent to the other to keep my clients happy and I've been answering the phone as well taking on more work after breakdowns over this weekend. One trip involved getting on a ferry as there is no way I'd contemplate parking in Gunwharf quay and lugging my tools from the multi storey to a boat, these are the kind of things we both do to keep people happy and sometimes to finish literally a 5 minute job that your washing machine guy would want a£100 call out.
Give the man a break before you bash him on here please, and likewise if anyone ever has a gripe at me then call me first , don't be keyboard warriors for the world to see it just isn't fair, this site isn't trip advisor.

Hi Paul, thanks for the info.
I would hardly say that I was a keyboard warrior just posting a questiom on a sailing forum as I have had no luck in making contact with Tom any other way.

As I said in my previous post Tompa had been recommended to me by Bukh in Poole.

Regards
Mark

I've just spoke with Tom, he is aware of this post and I'm sure he will be in touch, he is taking a day off.today by the sounds of it.
Warrior or not, you don't have to discuss the problem with the world, just discuss it with Tom I'm sure he will be In touch very shortly.

No one likes to slate a business but it is a bitter pill to swallow when you have lost most of the summer boating and it is costing you money in storage fees and you are getting no contact. But i have let my friend know and like marklongstaff he will get a chance to speak with Tom to sort out the issues that have been going on since April.

Well done Paul, nice touch.

Thanks Paul, I hate to see this kind of stuff on here, by all means complain about the big boys outfits, they can swallow it and hide away by just moving on to the next phone call that comes in. We all take on too much from time to time and someone is bound to get hurt, big companies do it too.

I have to say, and I only speak from my own experience, Tom responds to my text and calls. Always keeps us up and running and will be at the boat at stupid o'clock if needs be.

Top bloke and would always recommend him. I do know he's busy though!!

Fully agree. Looking forward to hooking up now we are near neighbours :)
