Pulled the first canal boat out the hole…..seriously good bit of kit used to winch it out.

I wondered why they hadn't used a tracked excavator but the wheeled one did the job. The drivers skills were par for the course to the lay observer it's amazing what an average driver can do. Driving one is a bit like rubbing your stomach and patting your head at the same time. I was fortunate enough when I took over managing my first quarry to have a guy nearing retirement with the patience of Job to put up with me and what I wanted him to do and to eventually teach me the rudiments such that I could dig a trench pull down a face and not kill myself or anyone else. Feckless hired a mini digger a couple of years back and I eventually took over and dug his pit for a septic tank and some boundary drainage ditches.
The winches were interesting.
