The confusion over parking fees at Excell seems to have been resolved. As of tomorrow (Wednesday) the fee for on site parking will be £9 per day, flat fee - this is better than the £15 people were being charged earlier but still pricey if you are only there for an hour or two.

Thanks James.

But is it correct that the Park'n'Ride facility is not available this year (as I think has been indicated on another post)?

From what I could tell, on Saturday the PnR wasn't open because it wasn't needed??? Access in and out of main car park was easy with no conjestion.

Park and Ride not working yesterday. All parking is underneath the centre - convenient but pricey. Loads of room - in fact spookily quiet. Perhaps Monday is always quiet, normally go on Tuesdays.

I sent an enquiry to ExCel about Park and Ride, and got this response:

Hi,

Thanks for emailing ExCeL London, The Parking for the Boat
Show park and ride is £6

I hope I have helped in this matter

Kind regards

This didn't actually answer my question, which was if it was available, so
I've now asked him that question again, and whether it's available from say, 9.45.

I'm anxious to know, because I'd go by train if parking is expensive.

Ali

Thanks Ali,

we normally use the P & R when we go - the first time we went a couple of years ago, the car park at Excel seemed to be full at 10.00 am on the Saturday - maybe we didn't find the right one....

We'll just see what happens this Saturday when we go.

I asked info@excel-london.co.uk
"Will Park and Ride be available on Saturday? and will it be
available when I arrive at, say, 9.45?"

This was the answer:

I would say that I cant give an answer at this stage as
Park and ride facillity will only be available once onsite
car parks are full, if we don't fill the onsite car parks
then the Park & Rides will not be available.

Further to your response to the email below please advise
your collegues that parking on site and in any park and
rides when available will be a sepcial Rate of £9

That is a disgraceful, cynical fleecing operation (and the spelling is terrible too).

What can we do?

Ali

Like yourself, I parked in the car park beneath Excel, costing £12 for up to 9 hours, staying 10-5. Access was simple, although a bit of a crawl out. All in all fine and I don't think £6 per head is bad, esp. given cost of public transport. Overall enjoyed the day and got what I was looking for, but thought Excel more focused on serious buyer than Earl's Court and I guess that's what the exhibitors want.

Don't go
Vote with your feet
Let the show collapse.
Then perhaps BMF (an arrogant bunch) will take some notice and listen to the boating public at last.

!Power to the Boaters!

Tricky. If I was going on my own, I'd use public transport, as there wouldn't be too much cost difference. For two of us, that hikes the price up somewhat.

Boycott the show? Hmmm....
