Following on from Colins post here is a couple of recent experiences
We took the Girls swimming I wanted to take some photoo's of my youngest coming down the slides I was not allowed to take photo's in a public swimming pool the way it was handled by Security almost made Me feel like some kind of deviant!!

And last night at a Christmas Dinner and dance a 65 yr old Lady was escorted of the premises as she "assaulted " the owner by grabbing her arm gently to get her attention as her table had been waiting for 10 mins for cream for their coffee!!!
I really am having second thoughts about staying in this Country.

Not unusual. The world is going mad. Went to the youngests christmas play at her school. Wasn't allowed to use video or camera, but you could order videos of the play at 25 quid a pop!

Seems to be the norm these days even in some schools in Guernsey.

At the moment the Law in Guernsey doesnt seem to have got as ridiculous. We are catching up though not very fast but still too fast in some areas and not in others. For example we dont have a sale of goods act, ok for the retailer bad for the consumer.

If only the would get their priorities right.

If you want to see madness, the wife runs the County junior netball league, and her clubs junior section, including each club having two welfare officers, duty of care paper work. it goes on and on.

The sad side to it all, a few years ago a women that worked for us, her husband was terrified to touch or bath his son, in case he got accused of child abuse.

They claim to be making a better country !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone else hear a bit on the news that this government is going to ban audio car alarms, so as avoid the noise at night !!!!!!!!!!!, or was I dreaming.

yes was on the news a few nights ago. This was the method of dealing with car alarms that are constantly going off. They finished with an explanation that nobody takes any notice of car alarms anymore so why bother having them. - Seems a bit like why bother having locks on the car, if they want to get in they will either jab a screwdriver through the lock, or smash the window.

There was no concept of maximising the effectiveness of the alrm whilst minimising the annoyance. The car alarm I had in a car 10 years ago would only work for 3 minutes. After that the alarm was silenced, and the sidelights continued flashing. If further attempts were made on the car, the alarm would go off again for a short period, and then re-set as before. The sidelights flashing alerted the owner that the alarm had been activated. The ones that just continue to sound are a definite nuisance and provide no real protection.

Why not get them to run government backed training scheme for car thieves, teach then to silence the alarm before breaking in.

Yes this is getting ridiculous.
A friend of mine was filming a powerboat from Town Quay Southampton. He had a camera set up on a tripod facing over the water and was approached by a jobs worth.' Oi! you cant do that!' Er pardon? 'You can't do that, this is a sensitive area'. Friend replied he 'thought it was town Quay, did not realise MOD had taken it over'. Jobsworth got all tetchy and asked what they were filming. Friend pointed out camera pointing in direction of boat, jobs worth started muttering about accidently getting children in the shot. Friend said not very likely as they would have to walk on water, but in any case children would not get hurt as it was a camera not an AK47. Was ordered to leave said Town Quay if camera direction strayed from going over water.
I am all for protecting children but things are really getting out of hand.

I have some photographs of children in my portfolio on my website. Some pier jumping, a family enjoying being by the seaside and some kids sailing.

Then my favourite, this kid in Aberdovey, had finished sailing and was sat tossing sand about, he was so determined about what he was doing while waiting to sail again. I love the whole situation of relieving boredom.

Am I a perv, no, should I remove the photographs, no, it is life, children exist, how can I be held responsible for some pervy teacher or jobsworth as above.

I have said this before, I am truly worried about the people that make these rules, what is going through 'their' minds, because it often seems they are the ones who have an issue where normal people don't even see a problem. I don't comprehend the issue as I just don't understand it.

But considering my website, maybe I should present myself to the nearest police station.

grrrrr

You like most of us have assorted photographs that are likely to include children. It is quite frightening if one considers the possible accusations in the minds of the PC police.

I read last week where a camera was installed to prove a Father Xmas wasn't molesting the kids, so prevented the premises from being sued. Plenty of this garbage is likely to be driven by those who operate the legal system, they seem to be the only ones who benefit.

The problem is that they cant removethese porn sites from the web which hve children in. What they need to do is have control over the web far cheaper than tracking down all the pervs.

So everyone suffers because they cant police items like the net. n I know it leads further afield but policing the net would be a good start.

You mean you have WINNERS at your kids sports day. The little'un took part in the sports day at her school. When I asked who won I was told by a teacher that theres not actually a winner they all won! They don't like to advocate competiveness aparantly!!!!!! What the F are schools coming to. No wonder we're so shite in the international sports arena.

I was just talking to my wife about this situation where the kids cant be deemed winners & loosers anymore. What prompted the conversation was the gymnastics on the TV.

Here we had lots of male & female competitors, trying to win in the various catagories from beam to floor excercises. Most of the female competitiors were of school age, and naturally from various countries.

Now what if all their schools had taught them to be noncompetitive? there would not have been a competition to show.

Life is full of winners & loosers and always will be. Maybe its the people that write these rules that have the problem as they are all loosers.

It all started around 1980, our office overlooked the school sports ground, and one day we noticed all boys were playing netball, and the girls were playing football. It was a directive to swop sports to give equalitity, at the same time there was to be no winners in sport, it was the taking part that was important.

So who was in power then, it's there fault all this PC.

You cant say that! The people who make the rules are neither winners, nor losers, it's the PC way forward! I've just watched a competitive game of football on the telly! I will take myself down to the nearest police station and hand myself over, I feel so ashamed, luckily it was a draw! So maybe it's ok!

About 10 years ago my daughter started school and at the "introduction evening" we were being told all about the schooling and that they would get school reports. BUT that they would show the marks but NOT the position in the class. So I stood up and asked how we should know how our child was doing to the rest of the class. is 60% really good or bottom. The teacher looked embarassed and struggled for an answer. The Head Misstriss standing at the back then gave us all a lecture about encouraging effort not results. Total B----x in my view. We left the school soon afterwards and the new school had (and still has) and ACHIEVEMENT Board. These kids WIN and loose.

Preparing them for the unfairness of later life.
