Evostik thinners

I don't think it is readily obtainable these days.

can anyone suggest a substitute that I can get-

cellulose thinners?
acetone?

It's not quite the same solvent mix as the adhesive but I cannot find any mention or recommendation for thinning it.

Its called Staines or Brights (I forget which, one is the electrical shop and one is the hardware etc, they are close to each other).

It'll depend on how old it is what the correct thinners are.

At one time they were toluene or or xylene

Evo-Stick contains Acetone, Butanone, Ethyl Acetate, Naptha (Petroleum) & Xylene.
I'd be inclined to thin it with either Petrol or Acetone.



Update - EvoStick cleaner/ thinners is freely available, and is 100% Butanone.

Try Baufix thinners from Lidl. It is a solvent for just about everything - including the plastic cup in which I put some thinners to clean a brush. The plastic cup melted overnight!

IIRC petrol works ok.

I've just been experimentimg with cellulose thinners -happen to have a can of that as well.

Seems to work OK>

We have some stycobond F60 which is quite similar to evo stick. on the tin its says contains Toluene.
we have a bottle of toluene handy so I tried mixing some of the glue that's been left in a glue pot for too many hours and has become too thick to spread easily.
I mixed in the toluene and it went runny without any lumps.
I've made it too thin possibly. It doesn't seem to bond as well as fresh glue.
we buy Touen and n-heptane from 'apc-pure chemicals' they even have an ebay outlet.
