Hello all,
Looking at a 1995 4hp two stroke Evinrude outboard.
Any experience and advice will be most welcome.
Are spares eg. impeller readily available?
Regards

Similar , although smaller cc engine size, to my 6 hp and that has been going since 1988

Several variations exist:- basic models with only forward and neutral gear selection (180° swivel for reverse) , deluxe versions with a reverse gear but have a different style of leg and cowling ( similar to larger models) and are significantly ( about 7 or 8kg ITYWF ) heavier.

Integral / remote tanks also possible options

Long and short shaft versions also available.

For a tender or dinghy a short shaft basic model ( without reverse) and an integral tank is the obvious choice.
For a small ( sub18ft) sailing yacht a long shaft model remote tank and reverse gear a more sensible choice.

Most parts are avaialble.

What is the model number of the engine you are looking at. That will identify most of the above options.

A "D" in the number indicates a deluxe model with reverse gear ( except when it is the last letter)
An "H" indicates that it does not have an integral tank.
An "L" indicates that it is a long shaft model
A "B" that it is European (Belgium ) made

Perhaps those with points ignition , which was retained on 4 hp models when others were CDI for some reason. AFAIK all the 1995 model were CDI
