Evinrude 2.3 hp outboard

I have a 2.3 hp Evinrude outboard and I can’t get it fire up. It has a spark , I’ve tried to pull start with petrol no go , I’ve tried it with easy start , no . It does seem to have compression ( when I pug my thumb over the plug hole it gets pushed off) what am I missing . Please can you help . Thanks . Kieron

How old is the petrol? It goes off.

The petrol is quite new and it’s the petrol on sale for two strokes in garden centres with a three year life span( £25 for five litres) not e5 or e10

Fresh plug.
Though it might spark in the fresh air, it might not under compression.

New plug and teaspoonfull of oil/petrol in plughole might be worth a go. Bit kinder possibly than Easy Start.
