Ever had a boat break free of its mooring?

My Dingy took to the air Yesterday in the high wind from the Ferry side of the Deben and found itself at Bawdsey. How it did not go out to see or up river I know not. I have it back now all in one piece and undamaged. Quite incredible as it is an inflatable. Video here. There was one other hard dingy over the Bawdsey side as well which has been reported

That was a bit of Luck

Refloating of Accommodation Barge grounded at Lower Halstow

(I think you will find that the barge referred to in the articles above is actually still at Upnor having big holes cut out on the side of the accommodation. This barge first appeared at Pinup Reach then was taken to Upnor for a time and then returned to Pinup Reach before it broke free from its single point mooring).

I believe they are informed that the prison is on an island so the more informed probably tried this escape route.
It was easier to catch them years ago, either Snape or Wilford Bridge. Nowadays I imagine they all have Google Maps
on their 'cell' phones.

Well yes , mobiles can be used quite effectively in these sittuations
Many years ago had relatives living on the Bawdsey side of the Deben , they often heard the Hollsey Siren and upon checking the Dinghys one might be missing , they had to wait untill the next High Tide to try and locate /retrieve their Dinghy as often the Escapers crossed the deben at a mid /low tide and had to follow the inlets on the Saltins to try and gain a good foothold ashore , so one had to await the rising tide to discover the Dinghy

All great exitement to be had , for sure
