The treadmaster in my cockpit (the seating area bit) is cracked and peeling
I was going to have a go at replacing it this summer

To use treadmaster fake teak would cost nearly £1000 - i would need 2 sheets and the 2nd sheet would mostly be wasted

There is also eva foam teak available from amazon, ebay etc. It would cost about £150

Has anyone used this and if so what do you think?

Are there any other DIY solutions that don't cost a fortune?

Thanks

The previous owner of my boat adopted Tek-Dek for use in the cockpit, its non slip, is now about seven seasons old and still looks good.
But its not cheap.

Make sure that the eva foam is actually flat, look very carefully at the pictures, I bought some and the "sealant" gaps between the "teak" strips is actually a good 2-3mm lower than the surface which might make for a better grip and better water shedding but would be a PITA to keep clean. (Mine was for cabin sole so not suitable)

I was watching a video earlier where someone actually caulked the gaps you are talking about because he was worried about the channels getting dirty

I don’t think the foam EVA is hard wearing enough. Okay for bare feet use, not my muckle boots. All the plank effect I’ve seen has grooves, PITA to clean. The “plastic” teak alternatives are very good, but expensive. I need a solution too!

This is what I shall be using thewoodveneerhub.co.uk/collections/all/products/teak-constructional-wood-veneer?variant= for my cockpit, although the 1.5mm which is out of stock at the moment. However the 3m*.47 2.5mm they have in stock will give you 7*6cm wide strips for just over £200 plus about another £50 for adhesive and caulking. Quite a lot of work but vastly superior to any of the fake stuff. I did a previous boat the same way over 30 years ago and still good when I sold it in 2019.
