Looking for info on the Chris Freer designed Europa 3000.Believed built by Northshore C.1979.
Any opinions and specs appreciated. Was there more than one depth of Keel?

I used to race on a masthead version. I think that there was a fractional version as well but don't know about different keels.
The one that I raced was failry quick and was a decent sea boat. I liked it. According to CYCA it should be 1/4 of a minute slower than a Westerly Storm and the same as a Fastnet 34, Beneteau First 29, Jeanneau Attalia, Westerly Fulmar or Seahawk.

I once chartered one in Scotland called Scorpio. When it ended its charter life I saw the same boat in Yarmouth IOW. Havn't seen her since.

We certainly enjoyed her. If you want any pix please PM me and i'll dig some out.

Cheers

There were 2 versions of this boat a cruiser version and a regatta version

The regatta was 2' longer (extended stern) with a taller mast and deeper lead keel. Extra berth. Slightly larger sail area with a large overlapping genoa and smaller main, classic IOR.

The regatta usually had a black anodised mast, all had a a blue pinstripe. I did see a light brown painted one (not convinced)

They are very good boats that are good in heavy weather, they are well balanced and are easily sailed with 2 people.

There was a good race boat on the clyde for many years. I dont know where it went.

Cheers. :)

Hi
Noticed that you know of Scorpio (Europa 3000) which is now for sale in Brixham (Devon). I will look at her soon with a view to puchase and just wondered if you had any comments. (Just sold our Sadler 29 which we kept in Cornwall and am looking for a replacement to sail from our French base)
Many thanks
