Opinions about this boat welcomed,thanks
Thanks. what diameter is the pin and how does the keel move up and down?Good boats - they are dry and have little condensation due to the double skinned hull. Unsinkable also due to the hull.
Make sure the lifting keel mechanism has been serviced regularly and works smoothly - an expensive item to put right.
The keel is lifted up and down vertically so the keel housing does take up room in the cabin. There are three nylon blocks attached to the keel, two at the front and one at the back. The top front one is threaded through which there is a long threaded rod. The rod is mounted via a thrust bearing to a crown wheel and pinion which is positioned at the base of the mast. This mechanism is then turned via a handle to raise and lower the keel. The blocks slide up and down a u shaped channel in the keel housing. I think some models had a safety pin but I don't know what diameter. Others relied on the rear block to hold the keel in place.Thanks. what diameter is the pin and how does the keel move up and down?

There is a facebook group which you may find helpful if you need further info. ETAP Yacht owners | Facebook
That's interesting - do you have a link as I can't find it?In addition to the above FB group there is also an Etap 22 Owners group featuring all generations including, I'm sure, 23s.
Regardless, much of the 23 details would be very similar to our 22i model.
