Essex Marine Police update

Strange how there is not a single mention of that small piece of water called the Thames or a dedicated Officer for this part of Essex:oops::oops:

These are the people who sent emails to everyone instructing them not to take exercise that involves boats..
The tried to justify themselves with spurious arguments about the remote possibility of a call out.
They lost all my respect for that little stunt

Do Essex Police even cover their part of the Thames - I thought they lost their larger and seagoing-capable boats many years ago.

If its very sunny and warm , we very occasionally see them :) There doesn't seem to be a regular presence though.

Alert IV is definitely seagoing, as is the main RIB.

Met Thames Division have a three way agreement with Kent and Essex though which means their coverage pretty much runs out to Shivering Sands in partnership with the other forces.

Kent's boat is usually slightly occupied around Dover!

Kent's ferry service for illegal migrants is usually slightly occupied around Dover!

I have corrected your error for you..

OK I apologise for being political on East Coast, but the recent situation does make me very circumspect about visiting Calais these days. I have no idea what their inflatables might get up to by way of speed, but I would not want to come into range of a boat load of desperate migrants.

I think that the chance of a lit flare being thrown into an inflatable would be enough to put them off approaching you.

Lest this seem unnecessarily bloodthirsty, I meant to point out that with VHF to hand and other tools at your disposal, you are not as helpless as you might suppose.

To be fair, KentPol do have the sensible attitude of not touching them with a bargepole and calling in Border Farce for the taxis.
