This probably affects us Aussies and Kiwis more than you Poms, but when updating the AMSA registration of my two GME MT400 EPIRBs, I discovered there has been a recall on some of them. July last year mind, I think.

The affected units are the MT400, MT401 and MT403 beacons with serial numbers between 50101000 and 80250722 manufactured between January 2005 and
February 2008.

No problem if you're over here - just exchanged mine for two brand spanking new 403's through Sartech in Redhill.

Sartech will also exchange affected expired EPIRBS for the price of a service.
They did my old MT 400 (year out of date) for a new 403gps model for a shade over £200.
None GPS was closer to £150.
Bargain upgrade.

My GME was re-batteried last year, a few months before the recall.
Sartech offered a free exchange for a new one or £60 to upgrade to the GPS version. Very quick and efficient service from Sartech.
