I gather that the process of entering the EU via France has been simplified, and one no longer needs to land at a port of entry. One can email a form - https://lehavreplaisance.com/library/file/PAF-le-Havre-Immigration-Form. anglais odt 2-1(5).pdf to a recognised port of entry, and then simply turn up at any port and report to the police. But the form which I have found does not appear to be editable when opened on my iPad, so I wouldn't be able do it on the move. Is that a problem with my iPad, or a more general problem?

Save it to Files.

It edits fine there with one anomaly … the text starts half way down the box and only allows three lines so where you are asked for four things just keep typing.

See example:

I have just opened it with my MacBook and it is editable.
I was going to convert it to an editable PDF for the OP but also found that it was editable. Perhaps it was updated after OP downloaded it.

The boxes didn't seem to be limited to 3 lines and I could type multiple lines. Only the first 4 were visible.
I just pressed enter after, name, DOB, place of birth and home address in order to put each item on a different line.
The lines of text will scroll up closer to the top if you enter 4 lines of text using enter/ CR key.

You are using a Mac, the OP is using an iPad. I too can do what you did on my Mac. My instructions were for an iPad.

Remember that whilst arrival may be advised by email, the important thing is getting a passport stamped to prove Arrival/departure, otherwise the 90 day rule may be breached

The Douane at Dieppe visits the port, but generally for ferry arrival/departures, so there is no re info re UK sailors. The nearest Douane HO is Rouen 58Km away.

For Bolulogne There is a Douane office a mile from the marina
At 3 rue Roger Salengro, BP77, Plateforme Garromanche, Outrea. Tel +33 9 70 27 08 43.
Note this is stated as office hours only and closed at lunchtime. Otherwise it is a trip to Calais.

For Dunkirk The Police Aux Frontiere office is near the commercial ferry port so about 10 miles from the marinas. It address is Rte du Petit Dena, 59279 Loon-Plage, Dunkerque; and phone +33 3 28 58 8 2 40. Bus no. 25 may be the best option, Buses are free

For Calais The Police Aux Frontiere is at the ferry terminal near the car check-in booths in the building described as "Immigration, Terminal E, 62100 Calais, France". +33321466010. This is shown as 2.4km walk from the marina

Honfleur The office for checking in is believed to be Douanes (Customs) at 4 Quai Lepaulmier, 14600 Honfleur, France. Tel: +33 2 31 14 44 30

For Le Havre The Police Aux Frontiere is believed to be at Terminal de la Citadelle which is off Avenue Lucien Corbeaux and near the Brittany Ferry building. Tel no. +33 2 35 41 40 40

It appears that the CA is waiting for members experiences before they can give definitive information. They advise members not to rely on marina staff for info as it has proved to be unreliable in the past.

May I gatecrash this thread and ask does one have to do the French notification of entry procedure if one is coming into France from another Schengen country where one has 'checked in' (or vice versa) rather than from the UK?
No, you don't. When you're allowed into the Schengen zone you can move freely within it. But you have to get your passport stamped when you leave Schengen, no matter from which country you depart.

That's the form for Le Havre, France haven't implemented a nationwide policy yet. Each region has its own forms and rules. In Britanny, each marina has a link to the correct form for arrival/departure and a description of how to get the passport stamped.

I couldn't edit the UK eC1331 form on my tablet as they'd used a macro that I couldn't enable. (And don't get me started on the requirement to ring a Border Force officer on a number that's not included on the form)

All of the current online forms are just a stop-gap to get us to May/June when the EES launches.

Once that's up and running, you need to visit an EES terminal to get your facial biometrics and fingerprints scanned.

Not sure when the UK system launches, but I think it's delayed.

I'm not using a Mac, I assume you mean I was using a desktop/laptop. However, I was using an Android 10 phone and instructions worked for that device. I checked with another Android tablet and a Windows 10 PC with the same result.

I was using Adobe Acrobat reader on the phone and tablet. I'm pretty certain that I can also edit with some other apps such as Google Drive and that should work on an iPad. I was pointing out that the version of the file I'd downloaded was editable. I assumed that the OP had already downloaded the file as he was hoping to use it off-line.

All I did was click on the Le Havre link, in safari, and the form opens on another web page, but none of the boxes respond to editing. I wouldn’t know what else to do?

Eureka! You have to install Acrobat from the App Store, then in Safari open the form, then click the ‘send to’ button next to the URL, then click ‘copy to Acrobat’ . Most of you probably knew that! But I write the instructions out in full for others who are, like me, similarly ungifted with IT.

My solution to non editable pdf's is to copy pdf as a picture (.png), paste the png into MS Word and overlay Text boxes to fill in the picturised form. Then reprint (save) as a pdf.

Mine is to print it out, write on it, and then take a photo and send that direct from the phone.

If the people creating the IT can't do something as simple as making an editable form that works on all platforms ( which is very easy to do ) then they can deal with analogue.
