Ensigns again

Re: Dutch navy

Ah, thanks.. so that's not a valid excuse. Still (at least) 5 other options open.

I'm a simple soul-

Given that the consensus of opinion that these vessels are army and wouldn't know the complete ins and outs of our customs

AND because the rest of the World uses their national flags as an ensign,

it would seem reasonable that they flew the Union flag....

As far as I know the UK - for historical reasons - is the only country which has three ensigns, and this causes endless confusion for Brits, let alone the rest of the World. Coupled with the fact that there are then many subdivisions of the Red and Blue which confuses even further, as can be seen from the multiplicity of posts on this Board.

I suppose it all makes for interest - in an anoraky way - anyway Flags are Fun.

One further point are sure they weren't flying a pilot flag? The sure would need help to navigate past all those AWBs and pontoons... (ha ha).

They "should" have been in Shoreham harbour anyway, cheaper and lots of room...

No it's true, long long ago the Dutch discovered that gun don't solve anything (Iraq??) and thus don't know how to use them. Chatham was a result of Brainpower, later converted in sheer brute force and thus breaking some chains....
