I think the plain ones are always the ones to be proud of. As I understood it the defaced ones are for people who aren't entitled but wanted a fancy colour anyway so pay for the privilegeI'm very proud to fly my plain Red Duster and I can get just as pompous about that as you posh lot can about your silly flags. I'm a member of the RNSA and don't fly a Blue Ensign. Does that make me one of the plebs?
Plain blue ensign usually means ex navy and have served their country (hence the warrant). These deserve respect and are usually great people and great boaters.or blue ensign
