Some will know we use a high Tensile 6mm chain for our anchor rode, to replace the supplied G30 8mm chain. We bought raw chain and had it Armorgalv coated along with matching connectors, chain hooks, Boomerang and Hammerlocks.
Another rode was made about 18 months ago in 8mm chain, to replace the recommended 10mm chain.
I am involved in 2 more rodes of 100m each- one a 6mm chain for a 43' trimaran and a 8mm rode for a Ovni 43. Each rode will have enlarged links, hooks and one of the owners will have his anchor re-galvanised. The chains will be individually tested for strength (UTS) and the rodes and components will have a 100 micron galvanised coating (no raw zinc).
I will be having some connectors and hammerlocks coated along with the above batch. If anyone wanted some enlarged links (Omega Links) or connectors aka hammerlocks I can include - you will only pay for the retail costs and postage.
My interest is in having access to the test results and appropriate images for a future article - and maybe feed back from interested parties.
For more details of an Omega Link or a connector aka hammerlock check this link:
http://www.liftek-intl.com/pdf/Excel_catalogue_complete_EN.pdf
pages 56 and 57. I am unlikely to use Excel components - but they give an idea. Specification will be about 70% of those quoted - so a true G70 quality.
If you are interested send me an email with an email address and I'll send an article on our chain and hopefully by that time I can tell you costs, primarily postage.
