Hi ,
I'm looking fro advise on what diesel engines to use to replace the Volvo AQ 140 petrol engines in my fairline fury built 1980. THe cheap option of two Ford FSD is claimed not to be big enough to get the boat to plane. THey are 2 by 75hp at 4000 rpm.Its also claimed to by very noisey and slow ie 12 knotts.
Can anyone advise ?
THanks gerry boylan

My Sunfury has a single Volvo AQAD40 which easily gets onto the plane and does 20 knots cruising

Hello Gerry,
Me and my mate Bob swapped the AQ130C's in a 1974 Fury for a couple of Peugeot 2.5 Turbo's. These are found in Ford Granada's, Peugeot 505's, and big Freightrover vans and maybe others. They reckon to produce about 95 hp, and are adequate to plane the boat. I recall that we had to almost double the cooling capacity that Lancing marine recommended. I sold my half to Bob a couple of years ago, but I think the swap was a success.
Cheers, Dave
