Oh! Dear! I bet you swore aswell! Lets face it, don't blame the cover maker, blame Yanmar for putting the pump in a ridiculous place! I've seen this stupidity on a few engines, the manufacturers just don't think about servicing, for the most part anyway. But you would think a marine engine manufacturer would know better! You can see the mariniser doing this, as it may be the only place you can put it.

One of the 'selling points' of the yanmar is that it is designed for the marine environment. Maybe aye, maybe no. Water pump is certainly not.

By the By, it doesn't matter if you lose some of the antifreeze mixture, it's only there to coat the insides and displace any trapped water with the antifreeze mixture, if you use the soluble oil option, which I strongly advise, all your internal waterways will have a film of oil on them, stopping any corrosion, which is the idea in the first place, not to stop the sea water freezing inside.
