The sale of our Monte Carlo 37 should complete this week, and I have hopefully found a replacement. We travelled from Bristol to Brundall in Norfolk (10 hour round trip) to view, and although she needs a good clean we liked her. We have agreed a good price as she is a stock boat, but there are a few points that are niggling at me. I asked for the service history to be available for me to see which has not happened, and despite promises to email them still nothing. The other sticking point is the warranty. Although it is a 3 month warranty it is a non negotiable return to base warranty - that would mean a 700 mile plus trip on a low loader at a cost of £5000! So basically there would be no warranty. If I am to proceed I would like the engines and drives looked over closely. It is too far for my regular engineer to travel, so does anyone know of a reliable engineer who could do the survey? The engines are Volvo D3 200 on DPS drives with 163 hours.

So these are the new generation D3 ? What year model is the boat Etc?
I assume it’s out of Volvo warranty ?

Its a year 2014, yes generation 2. It does seem totally unreasonable to offer a 3 month warranty only if you take it back to them. Has anyone else come across this scenario? Our previous boat was an Ancasta stock boat and their after sale care and warranty was faultless. I was hoping that this was going to be a similar experience...

Not sure I’d get involved in a boat with D3 engines Ozzie .

I bought a stock boat from a broker in that area. The warranty, as you say, did appear to be very limited in benefit (when you take into account the transport costs). If you do proceed and a service is included, make sure you get a note in writing as to exactly what will be done and when.

Still chasing them to see the service history, there phone calls and still no response from them. Volvopaul, would be interested to hear your views on them.

Re service and PDI etc.
We were promised all sorts when we bought our current boat, but only if we paid the full asking price!
