It wont work for everyone but I have a £3 simple domestic smoke alarm in the engine box of a 2020, near the exhaust. In three seasons it hasn't gone off under normal conditions.

I am hoping, if things get abnormally hot, something will smoke enough to set it off.

I am looking for a simple thermo electric switch that makes at say 110 C, that I can strap to the exhaust with a jublee clip and wire into the £4 Maplin water level alarm. I don't need a different sound to tell me what is wrong in there. Just an alarm sounding.

Re: vacuum alarm

um, i would have though a vacuum alarm would give the best advance warning for this particular issue - much better than overheat alarm too if there a cooling/oops seacock problem/error and wd've caught this sooner?
