I used to have just an 'ole for the raw water intake, and have never had trouble with blockages. Fitting a new Stuart Turner inlet tap and filter I have the opportunity to fit the external stainer with a series of thin elongated slots. Will this tend to lead to blockages with weed etc: anyone any experience?

As the others say, you shouldn't have a problem, PROVIDED you clear the slots (and inside them as far as possible) at least once a year. Despite painting anti-fouling on the inside with a very fine brush, here in Plymouth I still get a fair few tiny barnacles inside by the end of the season.

These haven't caused a problem with the cooling, but I reckon they would if left.

Cheers

In the water .... most of the year!!
If you do suffer from barnacles in the scupper? disconnect the hose to the water pump, stand upright (it should be above water level now) pour boiling water in the tube, this will make them let go (they dont like it Mr Mainwaring) pour them into a bucket and reconnect.
Saves going over the side?? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
