I’ve seen a few threads around the forum referring to these engines, nothing too alarming to be fair and I certainly feel a lot more enlightened as to what to keep my eyes peeled for. I’ve had the D12 800 (775) in the past but that boat had to go and now keen to get back in. My ultimate concern is the amount of engine hours considered to be fair game? In truth I admit to having been a boater sometimes swayed by “Hours Snobbery/anxiety”
Therefore, when I see boats up with 1000+ Hrs for post 2005 mfr I seem to want to squirm even though deep down i know if I’d had a boat having done 100hrs a year for 17yrs it would still be in fantastic condition, because, I’d keep it well serviced and maintained..
- What do you consider a lot of hours
- Is it REALLY possible for buyer/seller to protect/indemnify themselves from future meltdown??
- Where would you draw the line?
