After sorting out the power supply and successfully getting the current fan running I have found that the existing fan is VERY noisy. I am looking for a quiet engine room fan, capacity is not a big issue but noise is. Any recommendations gratefully received.
Cheers, Yoda

An engine room fan is for heat dissipation and to suck air from outside the engine room for the motor's combustion. (You would need a fairly substantial blower to do that)

Haven't you got the engine room enclosed? Maybe you should be looking for some sound deadening material?

Surely these fans are not too noisy?

Of course (say) a 2 liter motor needs a lot of air per minute when running at 2500rpm

I was advised to run the fan before starting to remove any gas build up (hydrogen or hopefully not propane). After that it's function is to cool by feeding clean air in and removing warm air. On my boat this is ventilated out by the helm position providing welcome warmth and also giving an early warning if anything overheats or combusts.

Like Yoda, mine is sometimes very noisy and i am interested in a replacement. Although not too quiet or I'll leave it on by mistake.

We can really only hear ours when engine switches off and fan keeps running for a couple of minutes - not certain of make but a standard fitment on Moody and I suspect Hanse -Yoda -are you a Hanse as contacting the owners forum might give some suggestions for a make of fan used.

Yes, if the engine compartment is sealed and the only air going in is via what is being blown in by the fan then unless that fan can deliver 1000 litres of air per minute it will not keep up with the demand from the engine and may therefore create a resistance to flow.

Yes Hanse 370 and I will try the owners forum but I was just looking for a make that is reasonably quiet because there is quite a few to choose from.
