Hi all. A friend of mine has just purchased a boat with Enfield 200 outdrives. When he tries to go faster than 4 knots one of them makes an irregular banging noise. He has been told by a mechanic that this is the "dog clutch"? The mechanic found it impossible to get the parts. I've contacted lancing marine and they say the same. He's knackered aint he.......? Anyone anywhere know where there could be some parts?

Just a few cables from Boulters Lock

Not necessarily knackered, gear shift cable may just need adjusting properly. If not exactly right, dog gear can slip under load.
As per other post herte contact Bob Knowles - 0116 253 8685

mine used to do that, i found that it was the metalastic drive coupling worn. changed to R&D type, but you'll have to get a new spacer made up, and make sure alignment is good.

they are quite difficult to get at but get him to check that first. someone told me that the drives were idestructable (he ain't met me!)

good luck, steve.
