Enfield cable adjustment

Apologies if this has been covered before, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have dual morse controls going to a pair of enfield stern drives powered by a couple of perkins 4107s.
The port side started to jump out of gear when going forward at low revs. I nipped the cable up a bit at the control end and that seemed to cure it. Now I have to pull it right back to engage reverse and it wants to jump out.

I always pull up in a lock on the left unless directed otherwise, so I presume my problem is cable stretching as that's the side that gets most use.

Do I also need to try and tighten the cable at the sterndrive end or is all the adjustment on the morse controls?

A common fault on these is the gear lever on the side of the leg gets overtightened and then slips on the shaft, try tightening the securing screw on the lever and if this is the problem the gears will be ok for a while once re-adjusted.
Once it has been overtightened it will fail again and the only option is to replace the lever. if left it can lead to the dog gears in the drive wearing.

I have replaced a few of these, it takes 10 mins and can be done afloat from a tender.

There are several outlets not in Leicester that can supply new ones who wont try to sell you a new drive.

You get what you pay for, experience isn't cheap.

I have bought from Bob a few times and found him reliable and friendly.
