Just picked up a little launch with an old Sabb HG 8 that's been sat for 4/5 yrs. Engine turns and compression seems ok, dynastart is seized and not had a proper look at it yet. Problem is the emulsified oil in the sump. Whats my best option for giving the engine a good internal clean before fresh oil and filters and first attempt at starting.

how bad is it? if there is loads then something is wrong with the engine - possibly head gasket etc.

If its just a bit I would change the oil for some flushing oil and get it running. Then change it again with new filters etc.

It's not bad, I'm putting it down to being left in a field for 4/5 yrs with zero attention paid to it.

Does anyone know the model of dynastarter used on these? Just in case I can't get this one freed up.

Sleemans is just down the road from me. If no one can help here I'll try them but I try not to pester commercial places when I don't really have any intention of buying. If the dynastart is knackered It'll remain a hand start for the rest of it's life. Repairs seem too bloody expensive.
