My daughter speaks German, I'll get her to watch it when she gets a minute

Elling is a boat I really like so I will be interested too! :)

Okay, so she has watched it.

In essence two guys swapped roles. A yachtie took the Elling and a mobo'er took the yacht from Holland to the UK in 3-4m seas. The idea seems to be to compare the two. The outcome was kinda predictable inasmuch as the yachtie in the Elling though it was stress free and comfortable but he found it boring and 'unspectacular'. He said that in comparison to the yacht it felt quite unstable in the extreme weather and he felt that yachts handle better in big seas. He found the accommodation/interior incredible in comparison to a yacht.

The mobo'er didn't say too much but said it was a much more interactive experience and he liked that. He didn't complement the interior but just gave factual accounts.

There wasn't really an overall conclusion other than they are two very different experiences. Apparently the narrator portrayed the Elling in a very positive light so maybe it was commissioned by them! :) :) :)

My daughter thought it was a bit of a pointless exercise as it was comparing apples with pears but she really enjoyed the Elling....thats my girl!!:)

Many thanks, for the speedy reply.
Perhaps my numbers will come up tonight and I can start a conversation with Elling.
If not I'll just have to keep watching the video.

Yep, a good sumary of what was rather a wasted exercise. The first 5 or 10 minutes was spent basically pointing out the berths, heads, showers, chart table and dishwasher. They never ran the Elling alongside the C-yacht 1230? and compared the amount of rolling or pitching on a particular heading for example, just summarised the overall impression.

Wow. They could have asked anyone who ever tried both types of boating, and save the hassle of arranging a comparison.... :D :D :D

Top marks Greg2 to you and your daughter. This forum is fantastic by way of the efforts that people go to help one another (I know that sounds a bit hippy, but it's meant with sincerity).

Thanks.
To be fair it wasn't really a chore..........we share a love of boats and the Elling is on my wish list so it was good to watch.....not that I could unstand a word of it! :) :) :)
