ellen drives the project, not just the boat, and she's smart enough to separate the fat cats from their cash to pay for what she wants to do.

99% of the working population spend their lives working to make their bosses richer but not many of those get to enjoy it or realise their personal ambition.

I happen to think, by the way, that we should applaud and celebrate her just they do in France - we need more people with her guts in sport.

"Remarkable silly thing to say"?? Wonder if Ellen would be doing it if she had to foot the bill her self --dont think so !! Dont think she has a free hand in this has she?? Bet she cant make major decisions without the OK from her guiding land bases.
Not doubting she gets the fat cats to part with their money to fullfill her dream but you would be foolish to think they are not getting their invested money back ---with dividens whilst she risks life and limb. At the end of the day its the sponsers who control this race not poor Ellen.
Ref your last sentence--She doesn't seem to be getting much enjoyment out of it at the moment does she??

It is a trait I cannot understand. I'm a golfer too (well I pretend) and have watched the wonderful British press tear apart people like Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomery and just last week Paul Casey who with Luke Donald won the World Cup DESPITE their negative comments. Bit like our wonderful government, if Ellen breaks the record just see how fast Tony B. Liar gets a photo opportunity to pose with her - probably break all known records even for him.
