Looking at the weatheronline site, area NE azores - the winds look set south going SW then turning strong Northerly by Sunday and going SE by monday tuesday. Looks like there will be plenty of wind

I Just hope that she keeps going and nothing breaks..............

Agree that her big worry now must be something breaking when she gets headed. Must be nail-biting being so close but with big risks ahead.

Fingers crossed!

Chris - you've probably seriously limited the number of responses you'll get to this by asking what the professionals think. My take on professionals is probably James Jermain, Bedouin, Mirelle of course, Bob Tyler - if he gets me my train tickets to Falmouth, as for the rest Stingo knows crocodile [censored] about anything, Jimi...nah, pepperpot, nah, me ...absolutely not - tcm - hmm, Para nah, TK and Cutter
Then there's Tome and Bignick.

So speaking professionally - Yes she's bound to make it - tell you what - A fiver to the fleetwood lifeboat if she doesn't.

Re: Ellen website

hm. I am hoping that others keep me posted about her progress as her emails are somewhat depressing! When it's a bit dodgy it's near-disaster, when it's fine and three days ahead its a disaster waiting to happen. Can't somebody cheer her up a bit? Perhaps the scots can offer some Burns to her to improve her mood (a bit)

I did wonder whether I should reply, not being a professional. Then I realised that knowing f***k all about a subject never stopped anyone else on here from chipping in!

Re: Oi

I've moored up as I was so far ahead of the kitchen, and I don't want to arrive before my adoring public have assembled. Plus, I was getting a wrinkly airse in there.

Re: Ellen website

I lang hae thought, my youthfu friend,
A something to have sent you,
Tho it should serve nae ither end
Than just a kind memento:
But how the subject-theme may gang,
Let time and chance determine:
Perhaps it may turn out a sang;
Perhaps, turn out a sermon.

Ye'll roond the world soon, my lass;
And, Ellen dear, believe me,
Ye'll find mankind an unco squad,
And muckle they may grieve ye:
For care and trouble set your thought,
Ev'n when your end's attained;
And a' your views may come to nought,
Where ev'ry nerve is strained.

Adieu, dear, amiable lassie!
Your heart can ne'er be wanting!
May prudence, fortitude, and truth,
Erect your brow undaunting!
In ploughman phrase, 'God send you speed,'
Still daily to gang faster;
And may ye better reck the rede,
Than ever did th' adviser!!

lets have some amatuers views then.

Fiver it is if she looses - which she won't!

Yeeerr - professional - it was badly worder was't it. TCM - bloody dismal ain't he.

Not a professional in sight - let alone any sane comment from the usual reptilian bunch!

Re: Ellen website

I reckon Team Ellen are pulling our plonker a bit here.

It always seems as though she won't make it.

I agree the winds look ok, she has only 1000 miles to go and is 3 days and a few hours ahead and bombing along at about 13 knots last time I looked.

The winds may go a bit light but she's got loads in hand. This is not going to take more than 3 and a half days and the record is in the bag.

Reserve your spot on Falmouth quay for Monday morning.. she'll be there and in the pub by lunchtime.

Record in sight

As far as i can make out, she needs to average 7.4 knots which is slower than any of the monhulls are doing anywhere in the atlantic, even golding now plonking about against the tide on the coast. So, claysie's fiver is safe once again.

Much more interesting is whether she manages to keep up the painful, stressful, dangerous, awe-inspiring, energy-draining, sleep-starved, muscle-aching, never-ending, on-the-edge, last-minute, do-or-die, all-or-nothing, now-or-never stream of miserable emails.

At least we know what the problem was in the previous crewed attempt: the mast topped itself.

Meanwhile, back at the Serious Burns Unit

Very nice Jimi. Wonder who this was written for?

The fear o' hell's a hangman's whip,
To haud the wretch in order;
But where ye feel your honour grip,
Let that aye be your border;
Its slightest touches, instant pause--
Debar a' side-pretences;
And resolutely keep its laws,
Uncaring consequences.

well everyone keep everything crossed a lot can happen over 1k.....when she makes it I hope she gets all the publicty she deserves, not the bl**dy footballers and their over paid antics, what she has done takes a very special person and words are not enough to describe what she has acheived.
