i note that the current recod holder Jolyon on IDEC went much much closer to the African coast. I wonder if this wd've allowed him to knock along using onshore (daytime) and perhaps even offshore (nighttime) sea breezes?

yea I thought about that but I wouldn't have thought he would have been close enough to get the full benefit though if at all.
