The elizabethan 29 is a good choice, but be warned: I bought one as my first boat in 1985 and never felt the need to change boats.
The main problem, depending on age, is as for any GRP boat, i.e. osmosis. It is curable, and they tend to be more heavily built than a modern boat so they can survive even quite nasty attacks. Other than that the class varies from the early sixties' Webster's-built boats through to home completed vessels as late as the eighties.
If you are interested, there is an owners' association, the EOA (contact Ian Stockdale at IStockdit@aol.com). He will be able to advise you af any other 29 owners near where you live. There is an owner's rally in Weymouth on the weekend of 5th July, and if all goes to plan there should be three 29s there. (the EOA covers the 23's, 30's, 31's, 33's and 35's.)
I am trying to prepare an "owner's handbook" but progress inevitably slows as the days get longer. I can email you some of the summaries if it would help.
If you pm me your email address I will send you my home number and you can give me a call (in the evenings) if you have any detailed questions.

Dave
