Electric winch conversion kits Harken

Harken gear is generally well-engineered. Rather than deciding immediately on an electric conversion kit, I'd look carefully at the pricing of the new Unipower winches (which have the motor partially integrated) and see whether selling your existing winches and buying new might be around the same total cost.

Hi
I had an electric conversion kit fitted to my Harken on my Jeanneau 44i - best thing I did, two speed and works well. Only issue is you have to make your own box to cover the motor in the ceiling of the cabin below, this I did using a roasting tin as a mould for the fibre glass and it looks great and obviously dampens the noise of the motor - just looked on You tube how to and bought a simple fibre glass kit

Depends what you want it to do I guess. It will be able to furl main and genoa, hoist sails, etc. (the stuff that's not huge loads but where you have to do a lot of winching). May not be much good for genoa sheets if you have a big overlapping genoa, but if you have a small jib, it should be fine.
