Electric scooter vs folding bikes

Just to add to the discussion: Dahon now do a blatant copy of a Brompton, so blatant that they were taken to court by Brompton. Amazingly, Dahon won the court case (when you see what a blatant copy it is you’ll see what I mean by ‘amazingly’) so I assume the Dahon version should be a cheaper, but near identical version of the Brompton, and hopefully with an aluminium frame.

Edit: It’s not actually cheaper, and despite the aluminium frame it’s heavier than steel framed Brompton. Go figure.

I think Dahon have lost their edge. They have no ebikes in their range, whereas Tern's looks like the best folding ebike on the market.

We binned the old 16" wheeled bikes and went for 20". Heavier, bulkier to stow but much nicer to ride with the larger wheels and Shimano gears. They live in forepeak and easy to carry in dinghy. At only €130 each, can be chucked when they go rusty. Have considered electric scooters which are legal here (pavement, cycle track or road) but cost and on board battery charging put me off.
But if you binned them they weren't Bromptons ? no point in pretending that a £130 bike compares with the best folding bike on the market. We stow our Bromptons under the table. Thats the point, they dont need to be stowed taking up space in the forepeak. the 16” wheels are not a problem. They run at 100psi and have very low rolling resistance

There are aftermarket e power upgrades for Bromptons such as Electric bike conversion kits by Swytch. Convert any bike into an eBike.
Not cheap but certainly cheaper than a new e Brompton if you already have a basic one
too late to edit my original, a lazy browse of the internet on Sunday revealed a raft of Brompton e upgrades, see:

a US site but many of the kits are UK/Europe based or from China
