Electric Outboards

Apologies if this has been asked before but I could not find any thread related to it and I am new to this forum. Does anyone have experience of using an electric outboard on a small boat (approximately 17 feet). I am intending to use the boat for at least part of the time on the Broads and although I beleive that an electric o/b would be OK for most of the rivers, where the tidal currents get strong I have been led to believe that an electric o/b would not be sufficient. Can anyone help on this and have there been any comparisons published?

With a quick search, found the following

Use 'electric' and 'outboard' as search words
Select 'all forums'
Search option 'and' (this looks for both words in a post, which cuts out the many posts with only one search word in it)
