Whilst Torqueedos etc are undoubtedly more expensive, I have one that I have used for 11 years, after my old 2 stroke died. Servicing costs have been nil, I just hose it down and chuck it it the car.
If you are technically minded you can service your own small 4 stroke, but many will have it done by an engineer at £150 a time at least every couple of years so worth factoring that it.
