Sorry I know this has been done to death I guess but after a quick win...got an issue with my wee outboard on the back of my 22' yacht. As a quick work around would a 65lb thrust electric one do the job of getting me on and off the swing mooring.?

Thanks Dj

The electric o/b will give you some movement for a short while in very calm conditions however I think you will end up very disappointed in the performance. Indeed I think you will do better with a couple of decent oars/paddles.
Especially good if you can devise decent rowlock/thol pins and a decent seating position. My 21ft can be paddled quite well in calm conditions. However I always use the sails to depart and return to my swing mooring. I have not used a motor in many years. I back the jib for departure and remove the jib before arrival to keep fore deck clear for pick up. Of course not so easy single handed. olewill

In a word, no. Yes it will move the boat slowly, but not enough to retain control in anything more than a light breeze. I used one on an 8ft tender 70lbs thrust. Fine in calm conditions but anything over F4 it couldn't make up against the wind.

The small £150 ones will struggle due to the weight of the boat. Use one on my kayak quite well but obviously a much lighter and sleeker craft.
