EES passport checks catch 4000 over stayers in first 4 months

AFAIK, fines differ between states. Deportation (potentially without your boat? 😱) and/or a ban from re-entering the EU is also a potential consequence of overstaying.

Sorry. I forgot about the paywall. I suspect that pasting the text here would be frowned upon unfortunately. The headline says it all really however. During the period, Schengen countries recorded some 16,000 refusals of entry - mostly identity fraud, people trying to enter or exit numerous times using different passports, and use of false documents. A victim of trafficking was also identified.

This is going to be the challenge for those of us with one half holding and EU passport and the other not. I think that the rules have the potential to go badly wrong.
