EU's EES biometric passport checks catch 4,000 over-stayers in first 4 months

More like they don't want to be seen to be returning to EU freedom of movement but the reality is we had the right to remove non-contributing EU citizens after 90 days before B***** and never did.1000 per month is quite a low number. Only about 35 per day.
I guess the UK gov does not want to agree a longer stay of 180 days since it would mean more uk money spent abroad.
Paywall so cant read and consequently cant comment. (not you fault, obvs).... according to The Local.

I have no evidence, but I would have thought that the figure was much lower prior to EES?1000 per month is quite a low number. Only about 35 per day.
Sorry. I forgot about the paywall. I suspect that pasting the text here would be frowned upon unfortunately. The headline says it all really however. During the period, Schengen countries recorded some 16,000 refusals of entry - mostly identity fraud, people trying to enter or exit numerous times using different passports, and use of false documents. A victim of trafficking was also identified.Paywall so cant read and consequently cant comment. (not you fault, obvs).

He turns up on airforce one!Well of course they are.
But what about all the people traffickers and terrorists and gun runners and drug overlords and pimps and child pornographers and financial scammers and big time thieves and violent criminals and those with false identities and other random wanted individuals who're already entitled to be in the EU and can therefore travel freely around huh?
What about them?
What about them? No different to them moving about the US, the UK or any other country. You have to balance risk against reward and the rewards are huge. With the freedom of movment yoiu also have police and immigration control co-operation. We lost a lot of that as wellWell of course they are.

Everything to do with the UK government. Reports at the time said the EU offered 180 days but Oliver Letwin or his team turned it down. It's nothing to do with the UK government -the Schengen zone was established by the EU around the turn of the century.
Suspect that had something to do with what the EU required in return. They never give anything "for free" as we see in the current discussions on youth movement - they are only pursuing it because the benefits are for them. Same with Erasmus. UK will be the loser.Everything to do with the UK government. Reports at the time said the EU offered 180 days but Oliver Letwin or his team turned it down.
