Echopilot help

Just had my boat relaunched after a week ashore to check anode etc. and have found that my Echopilot depth finder now seems permanently reading zero. It's an oil bath transducer. The manual doesn't appear to help. Any suggestions.

It might be the transducer failed - I had one go last year and they offered me a good discount on an upgrade to the 2D colour screen. I sent it back because the screen is not bright enough here in the Med even under a good spray hood.

It's an old Incastec unit not a modern forward looker. I got a new transducer but can't figure how to fit it, it has a coax connector which doesn't exist in the present installation.

I'd expect any transducer cable to be co-ax ?

If the trouble is connecting at the set end, the outer shielding of the co-ax can be twisted into one wire to make connection easier, as long as it goes to the right outer place and is kept separate from the inner.

I presume you've checked the oil level, I find it leaks very easily, difficult to find an oil proof adhesive / sealant; with fishfinder ' transom mount ' transducers ( haven't tried with traditional type ) one can simply stick the thing inside a relatively flat bit of the hull with bog standard silicone sealant - one loses the nanoseconds' warning of having the transducer in the veed forward hull but it saves a lot of hassle.
