I have an EchoPliot Bronze forward looking sonar. The display went a bit funny and is unreadable and pixelated. The transducer and cabling is fine. EchoPilot say I need to replace it at great cost but minus 30% if I send back the original unit... still great cost with discount.

1. Has this happened to anyone else and easily fixed it?
2. Has anyone got any old FLS Bronze kicking in their garage about they will sell to me?

I can't help with your Qs 1+2 but fwiw I definitely wouldn't bother, and would just chuck it out. I had the "gold" on a 2009 boat (that I bought as a new stock boat; I didn't spec the thing) and it was pretty useless. So if any part of it were to have broken I would have chucked it out.

Hi northcave,

I have same EcoPilot bronze with same symptoms you had.
Did You find some solution how to fix this or did you find a replacement solution?

No real solution. I managed to buy a replacement display from EchoPilot. Apparently the last one they had kicking about. Still have it unused as apparently my sounder is also dodgy. I haven't stumped up the cash to buy a new sounder also yet and haven't decided if I'll just sell the new display or buy a new sounder.

I'll answer for my own question if somebody is facing with same problem as i had.

The season is running out and finally I got the boat to the sea.

Last autumn I removed the display from the boat and opened it and the display spent last winter on bookshelf. Full of hope I reassemble the device and tried it on the boat and it worked.

The reason seemed to be moisture inside the device.

For those who want to continue living with an old device.
Again this summer the display of my device get the same visual symptom as before (pixeling).

Now the reason it wasn't the humidity.

I opened the device and cleaned the display connector (flat wide "foil-cable") and the display is clear and working as expected again.

I’m still a bit ambivalent about mine. When I got the boat it worked and then the display went a bit crap. I got a new display and it didn’t fix the issue. Continuity of cables seemed ok so can only assume it’s the transducer. Couldn’t justify shelling out on the off chance so it remains unused.

I found Echopilt really unhelpful and boarding rude. Perhaps one day I’ll get it working again.

I could be but is it the oldversion. I don’t think the latest transducers will be compatible with my old display
Mine was installed in the late 80's.......I'm back on the boat in a fortnight, PM me details of what you need, photos etc.
