ECF Christmas Quiz 2015

That looks quite tricky. Are the pictures in Q7 and Q19 not the same?

Hmmm
All that proof reading but I didn't spot the duplicate
Well that makes it just that bit more easy

Serves me right for taking so long over it

Thanks Peter

Think I have 5 before the 'missing letters' bit. Umm, since my illness has made it difficult to sort out letters and do excellent numbers, could you recode this for me:D

Just joking - well about the recoding at least!:o

Actually thinking on, this is excellent therapy, ta ever so!

Thank you Dennyjc for your hard work in putting together what looks to be an intriguing quiz.

Looking forward to asking friends and family for help with the head scratching over the holiday.

Have fun

Just a few more days to go . . . .
So send in your replies - there's some hope, even if you haven't answered all the question.

It is a super quiz. We have had a lot of fun with it, but there are still more answers that we can't get.

As one who has set previous quizzes can I urge everyone to send in their answers even if they feel they haven't done very well. It is extremely frustrating, after all the work one has put in to set it, if no one bothers to answer!

My answers (some very speculative) are on their way!

I'm afraid, and I hope I'm alone in this, that the first few questions stumped me and I didn't get past them into the meat of the quiz. I haven't been back and re-tried I'm afraid so maybe it caught me on a bad day. I hope others have had more success!

ECF Christmas Quiz 2015 - RESULT and ANSWERS

As with most deadlines, most of the quiz entries arrived on the last day.
Thanks to everyone who entered. It made it all worthwhile.
There are some smart cookies in this forum. Despite making a few really difficult questions there was always someone with the correct answer.

And so to the results
I must mention AliM with 65 out of 70 - almost winning back her own donated prize
but
With 67 out of 70 the winner is Phil, a recent addition to the forum as 'Osprey of Orwell'
Well done Phil.

Re: ECF Christmas Quiz 2015 - RESULT and ANSWERS

Well done Phil. What a brilliant effort at an intriguing quiz.

Judging by how long I spent over it, you must have wasted a lot of your Christmas break !

I am just trying to locate the prize, which apparently never got to Colin. I hope to be able to give it to you at the Fitting up dinner or sometime in the spring.

Re: ECF Christmas Quiz 2015 - RESULT and ANSWERS

Many thanks to Colin for setting this excellent quiz and congratulations to Phil and Ali for doing so well. I spent hours to get less than 50 correct so know how long it takes to both set and answer. However certainly not time wasted!

Re: ECF Christmas Quiz 2015 - RESULT and ANSWERS

I got an awful lot less than 50 and I am mightily impressed by anyone who did.
Deptford Creek, eh, now I know where the Prior boats go.....
And as for the pub signs....well, really, I have been in every one of those pubs, some frequently, and didn't get any of them. I must remember to look up before I go in the door :ambivalence:

Re: ECF Christmas Quiz 2015 - RESULT and ANSWERS

Re: the pub signs, am very cross with myself for not getting The Anchor at Woodbridge, despite having eaten there (very good) several times in the last year or so... in the summer I even stood outside and took a nice photo of the sign (for possible use in the next edition of East Coast Rivers)... I knew it looked familiar...
Well done everyone, especially the setters.
