I keep getting rusty water stains from the heater exhaust that run down the side of the hull, it cleans off fairly easily with 'wipe off' but comes back over a 3 to 4 month period, has anyone got any ideas of how to cure it or what is causing the problem
The boat is only a year old and I have reported it to the agents but, as yet, are awaiting a reposnse

terry,

It is quite usual to get deposits down the side due to condensation in the heat exchanger, howver "rusty" would concern me, so I would say in this instance persovere with contacting Eberspacher on the matter.

In the menatime, try some Y10 (oxalic acid mixture) on the hull, great for removing stains of all types, and seems quite kind to fiberglass, as long as you wash it off 10mins after applying.

Let us know how you get on...

You must have crept home quietly.....don't worry you should not need the heating up here this summer it's going to be a hot one. The exhaust is stainless so not coming from that but sometimes the weld on the pipe outlet can be a source of rust as is made up of several piece's......what do you expect from a Swedish boat, I bet David could fix it with a large lump hammer!!!!!!!Night's tonight for me.......

see you soon.

No water ingress? I take it there is a sufficient swan neck at the exhaust outlet? If not rain could be finding its way into the exhaust pipe and when you start it up hot water is being forced out and dribbles down from the exhaust.

Just a thought....

....dont need it today anyway.
