The water pump on our Hydronic 10 failed, 11 years old so not entirely surprised. It's a Hella PA6-GF25.

Eberspacher price is around £400 ..... a really, really, silly OTT price in my view.

I found one on ebay for £260, including next day delivery, still a really silly price, but better than the Eber' price.

Looking online I can find similar pumps for around £50, not quite the same, but it give an idea of the real price of the pump.

The electric motor works OK, it just screams when powered up and doesn't pump any water.

On taking apart, there's a magnetic coupling between the motor and impeller, and the shaft driving the impeller is partly seized, I can turn it by hand, but it doesn't spin freely. My guess is that it has been run dry at some point. I've tried a PTFE spray in an attempt to lubricate the bearing, but it had little effect.

Any ideas on how to repair the pump?

In addition, the pump is connected to the controller board using some form of Tyco connector. The female connections are held into the multiway connector by some sort of bayonet system, I've tried the usual methods of sliding a small blade of metal down each side of the connection to release the bayonet, or barb, but so far without success.

Anyone know which type of connector is used, how to remove the "pins"? And it would be great to know where I can buy new connectors pins, because I'm fairly sure I'll knacker at least on in my struggle to remove the wire from pump from the multi way connector block.

I'm reluctant to spend silly money on a new pump, especially when there is not a lot wrong with the old one.

There are a few manuals here.

https://www.butlertechnik.com/technical_library/hydronic-10-d70

And spare parts for the Hydronic 10

https://www.butlertechnik.com/hydronic-10-t356

I take the attitude with pumps: if the pump fails will the boat sink? If the answer is "No" I am prepared to buy an ël cheapo " on eBay.

Thanks for the links, I already have all the manuals, and the links to the spare parts confirms the very high prices.

I agree, the boat won't sink without heater, and just now it's not required, aircon would be more like it, but I do need to get it fixed, the crew won't be happy come a September gale with a heater.
