Anyone who saw my post from some time ago regarding problems setting my Eberspacher D2 to come on at certain times on certain days may be interested to know that it has now been fixed by Eberspacher.

It took me a long time to convince Eberspacher that there was a problem at all. The unit would work OK manually, and if you had more than one day set (depending on which days!) it would work OK as well. The problem was if you wanted to set a single on-time for a single day of the week (in my case I wanted it to come on at 20:30 on Wednesdays only). This would not work. Saturday was OK, as was Monday ! (I suspect they may have tested it on a Monday - and, naturally, found no fault!!!). You can work around the problem if you know its there; the more annoying part was that it would also come on when not set as well as not coming on when is should.

They eventually acknowledged the problem and have now released a newly modified timer that works. There is a sticker on the back with the month and year printed on it. Yours will be OK if it says "Apr 2002" or later. My last one that was faulty was dated "Nov 2001".

My thanks to Jon Brooks at Eberspacher UK, who was very helpfull throughout.

Cheers, Jerry

My timer went haywire - display total gibberish. I tried disconnecting it, rebooting, many other things, all to no avail. I called an Eberspacher agent who, after some discussion, told me that this known problem was due to the fact that I have a permanent 5 Amp connection to it to keep the memory active. Apparently this method is not recommended (although it seems to be perfectly OK on trucks). They persuaded me to buy a battery powered unit to replace it.

Next time I went to the boat the old timer was perfectly OK and has remained so ever since.
