Eberspacher problem

I thought the Eber. threads needed a bit of a boost so here goes.

One minute it was going fine, next minute the blower was still turning at a moderate speed but there was no heat and it didn't shut down. The only way of stopping it was to kill the power by pulling the fuse, the rheostat controller had no effect at all. At the time this happened I didn't have the digital controller but have since fitted one and found out that the error code is AF:33 - speed deviation, which suggests a motor or controller problem. I've checked for obstructions in the ducting and found nothing.

Does anyone have experience of this problem? If I clear the error on the controller the eber. seems to begin it's normal startup sequence at low speed, then after less than a minute the blower speeds up a bit and stays there. No ignition takes place, no smoke, nothing. Great for ventilation but useless for heating.

It's still fitted in the boat at the moment, but I'm planning to take it out this weekend for a better look, so any suggestions gratefully received.
(It's a D1LCc by the way).

the eberspacher will continue to run after the thermostat has switched of so it can cool down internally do not pull fuse as damage may occur,if it starts ok then no heat check fuel supply /quality,pump and prefilter if no pre filter fitted a small in line one is a good idea.

Thanks for the replies. I've done most of the checks mentioned already to no avail. The reason for pulling the fuse, as I think I said, was because it will never stop (at least not until the battery runs down).Cooling down is not an issue - it doesn't heat up! I think it is a motor or controller problem as indicated by the error code, but was interested to see if anyone else had experienced similar behaviour.

suggest you talk to your friendly truck driver as the heating system in trucks is usually ebersbacher and they might know who repairs them.

this sounds like a flame sensor problem telling the icu (brain) that the heater is still warm so the unit stays in cooldown mode (forever) this fault will not show on the tester because it thinks its still hot. the sensor is the silverdisc with blue wires on the end of the heat exchange held on with a spring clip hope this helps
