Eberspacher noise

Sounds like the fuel pump to me. It makes a clicking noise when pumping the fuel. If you can touch the pump when it's working you can feel the pulses and if they coincide with your dripping sound then thats it.

agree its the fuel pump..quite normal

Thirded... and possibly the most singly annoying noise on a boat.

tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick..... On our previous boat the bugger was mounted directly underneath the aft cabin berth.

Thanks all, sounds like it is the fuel pump. I’ll have to go and look for it to see what I can do. We have the two cabin oceanis and prefer the aft cabin. First really annoying noise was the battery charger that leaps into action every other minute or so, quickly fixed by turning it off (not rocket science, just took some figuring out what and where it was coming from) leaving this to sort.
I should be able to mount the fuel pump on some rubber, but what about wrapping it in something first?

Ours went very quiet when I mounted it on one of these

clicky

The pump is in the cockpit locker (as is the Eber.) and is almost inaudible when the locker is closed. It was previously direct mounted to a bulkhead and could be heard throughout the boat. I think you can get a rubber mounting bracket for the pump from Eber as well (if you haven't already got one).

Our pump has plastic fuel pipe running to & from it, too which must help reduce noise transmission.

The pump is definitely noisier if there's air in the fuel (e.g. small leak on the suction side or you're running low on fuel!!).

I know this has already been answered, but I still have to reply, as it is very rare that a semi-technical question comes up that I can actually answer correctly... it's the Schneberdyschnobard [Eberspacher] fuel pump! Wooh!

Fantastic, many thanks Andy I will have some of these ordered on Monday so should get the job done next weekend :-)

No problem :) In case you haven't sussed it out, there are all sorts of thread sizes and lengths available to suit whatever bracket is on your pump.

Good luck.

The pump sits in a P clamp which uses a 6 mm bolt, so buy the cotton reels with 6mm threads

My cure for this problem was having a bigger night cap,;) but then that caused my heart to race and pound withen me, so I resorted back to the eber:)
Seriously I would not sleep with the eber running, it would only take a crack in the heat exchanger to kill you!
I am sure this topic was covered here before.
