Still struggling with the eber D1LC I sold from my boat. The chap who bought it has seen it working on my boat and also set up on the bench at home (warming my shed!!)
He has set it up on his boat but says it wont work. His first concern was that the pump was not receiving 12 volts. Thanks to advice on the forum and my own check on my D2 pump it is clear that the multimeter does not record 12 volts as the current is pulsed (more like 5 or 6)
So it still wont start and I am getting drawn into the repair web!!
I have not seen a specific answer to this on previous postings nor can I get it by searching so appologies if I am asking the same question again.
Concerning lockout..... I read that my D1LC will lock out after 10 abortive starts or after 3 overheating shutdowns... is this the same for the D1LC ???
I do have the timer diagnostic control for the D2 so I guess I could cancell the error code if that unit was faulty.
The D1LC has a similer looking timer but I am not certain if I can use it to cancell codes, perhaps I could try it using the instructions from my D2.
A short answer to my lockout query would be appreciated as would any advice about cancelling the code.
happy new year to all!!

Thanks rickp - I have read many threads on this issue but this is a great link that sums it all up ......... and is now printed and saved!
Steve.

Thanks guys. I remember this thread(now) but didnt see it in my search (though eberspacher is in the title).
My D2 Airtronic definatly say that there is lockout after 10 attempts or 3 overheats so mine must be an early model.

The problem with my mates (we are friends again) boat has been sorted either a poor connection (trying to fit control knob connector in a confined space) or fuel not primed (despite my advice).
Anyway all sorted...many thanks, I am now trying to establish how to run the fault codes on both these models and how to reset after lockout......Just in case!!
Regards

You can get a timer control for Ebersprachers which can also serve to interrogate the fault codes and reset. I picked one up on Ebay for around £30 last summer. Not difficult to fit and seems to do the job - though in my case what I thought was a lockout isn't and I really do have a fault which I haven't got to grips with yet. F33 (motor speed outside limits) if anyone has any ideas?

John

My Eberspacher d5 (I think) went for a service and the service guy told me that the motor was only just within the motor limits, i.e. it was starting to run a little slow. (Knackered bearings probably). I had it renewed at some horrible cost. I suspect yours might be doing the same thing. It would be interesting to see what could be replaced rather than the whole motor but to be honest I couldn't be a_sed!!! :-) Hope this helps...

The D2 Airtronic, and the later D1LC Compacts do not have the lockout feature.

The D1LC (with external control box) and early D1LC compacts (internal control box). Are the only ones with the lockout. No other have it.

If your D1LC does lockout, then 35 quid invested into a combination timer on ebay will allow you to reset it yourself.

You say yours wont start, does the fan turn or does it give any other symptoms of life?

Yes I have the diagnostic/timers for both D1LC and D2. The timer works on them both but I need to complete the wiring to get diagnosis from the D1.
In many cases it may be worth just buying a second hand unit from Ebay at £300 rather than fork out over £200 for a repair. At least you would have some spares!!
