Looking on e-bay there are Eberspachers from a Turkish company at very good prices. Are these the real thing or a poor Turkish copy. Has anyone bought one or have any experiences?

I really can't imagine it's worthwhile tooling up to produce knock-off Eberspachers in Turkey! The guy looks genuine enough - he's probably just taking advantage of the vagaries of international pricing.

PS You'd need to pay VAT on arrival in UK. You'd also need to check the specification of exactly which bits come with the heater - you'll find it's probably quite different from "marine" Eberspacher kits sold in the UK.

Was interested myself & spoke to someone who had bought one, she was pleased with what she received, but from memory I think there were no instructions included. Those however can be downloaded from the Eber website.

I bought a D4 from this chap when he was based in London and have bought various bits and pieces from him since his return to Turkey, where he tells me he gets better weather. He's sound as a pound.

Do we definitely have to pay 17.5% VAT on top of his prices though as that wipes out much of the saving from the UK lot?

Before you buy from Turkey might I recommend an alternative from Germany.

Back in March this year I bought a new Eberspacher Hydronic kit from a company called Kfz-Teile Braun. You should be able to translate the webpage using Google (www.kfz-braun.info) They are on eBay as well (the German version of eBay).

I managed to buy the whole kit including a timer for £693... that included VAT, duties, warranty, delivery etc. Delivery was only a couple of days or so. The best quote I got from the UK was over a grand.

The lady I spoke to spoke reasonable English and everything turned out OK and all went to plan.

I just thought it might help, as sometimes it can be a bit of a worry when dealing with foreign sellers.
