Now winter is coming along tried my eberspacher DL3 and no heat! , worked fine a couple of months ago the stat lights up the blower starts but only blows cold air. Thought it might be the fuel dosing pump as you apparently should hear it clicking on start up. No clicking so checked fuel lines, all clear, removed pick up pipe from the tank, all clear, plenty of fuel. Took the plunge and bought a replacement pump £170 still the same!. Not sure now if the control unit has locked out or is defective , the unit has tried to start a number of times, seems you need to buy a diagnostic unit to check the codes and / or unlock the control unit, any ideas out there ?

If the unit were locked out I wouldn't expect the fan to be running as yours is, pity you bought a new pump before you checked out the old one by "flashing" it, easy for me to say now I know, will the supplier take it back? With the symptoms you describe and particularly with old D3s I would suspect the ECU but please bear in mind that my main expertise is with Webasto and Mikuni so please don't go out and buy one on my say so, check for broken cable or corroded terminals on the pump supply line as a next step.

David hi, thanks for the reply. Thought it was either the pump or the ecu as there was no fuel and no ticking noise, went for the pump! Will keep it as a spare now, will check all the cabling when at the marina next, thanks again,

David / Paul the fan runs for quite a long time then shuts down then re starts again after a short while , tried replacing the glow plug with a spare I had on board still the same though

Ah, could be any one of a number of problems then including what Paul mentioned and the temperature sensor and the control rheostat, as I rarely use it I could loan you my EDITH interface if it's only over a weekend.
